Frequently asked questions

The questions festival organisers ask us most.

Festival lighting is technically the hardest in photography: harsh spots, bright lasers and explosive fireworks against a dark environment. We work with professional DSLR cameras and fast lenses that can switch quickly between exposure values. Manual exposure is standard, that way the motion is frozen and the atmosphere of the light stays intact.

Crowd photography is about timing and position. We look for the fraction of a second when everyone reacts at once to a drop, a firework or a stage moment. That takes anticipation, knowledge of the music and a feel for when the crowd goes wild. That split second is the difference between a photo of people and a photo you feel.

That's standard at large festivals. We deploy a team where each photographer covers their own stage or zone, working to the same style agreements. That way you don't miss a single moment across the site, and the end result is one coherent whole, regardless of which photographer stood where.

At the end of each festival day we deliver a first selection of the strongest images. They're ready to use on social media while the festival is still going. The full edited series follows within 24 hours of the final day.
